Tonight, we are glad to be here to enjoy the art performance in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relation between China and The Bahamas by Guangdong Art Troupe. On behalf of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, I would like to extend my warm welcome to the artists from Guangdong Art Troupe, you come a long way to The Bahamas and will bring us wonderful performances. Also, I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to all distinguished guests and friends present here.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relation between China and The Bahamas. Although separated by vast oceans and having different history cultures, our two countries have always maintained mutual respect and sincere friendship. Over the past 20 years, China-Bahamas friendship and cooperation have gained steady progress. The Bahamas has become an important partner of China in the Caribbean. Particularly in recent years, under the guidance of the leaders of our two countries through their frequent meetings, the mutual understanding and trust have been deepened, economic and commercial cooperation has been kept increasing and cultural exchanges have been strengthened.
Culture exchange is a bridge that connects people's hearts and minds, and it is the envoy of friendship. Guangdong Art Troupe, who will perform today enjoys a high reputation in China and has performed abroad many times, praised and welcomed by the audience in every country. I believe, the performance tonight will let Bahamian friends feel the charm and rhythm from China, and the blessing from Chinese friends, deepen your understanding of China and Chinese culture and enhance the friendship between our two peoples.
