Ambassador Dai Qingli sat down with Nahaja Black in her “The Hit Back” show on Nov 4th, talking about a wide range of issues concerning bilateral relations, climate change and the Belt and Road initiative.
The conversation involved a lot of candor. They spent a lot of time talking about the perception issue, how the two countries look at each other, how they feel about they cooperation, and how to promote more broad-based cooperation to benefit more average Bahamians. Nahaja talked about some Bahamians feeling left out in the cooperation between the two countries and their misgivings about China taking their resources and taking over their country.
Ambassador Dai explained that China has nothing but the best intentions for The Bahamas. We are here to help, not to take your resources, and any cooperation that may be developed in the future will be based on consultations and mutual agreement, and will be beneficial to the Bahamians as much as possible.
