Online Seminar on Urban Planning and Construction for The Bahamas Opens

On November 10th, the opening ceremony of the Online Seminar on Urban Planning and Construction for The Bahamas which is sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of China and undertaken by Beijing Jiaotong University, was successfully held. The Honorable Alfred Michael Sears, Minister of Works and Utilities of The Bahamas, ambassador Dai Qingli, and Mr. Guan Zhongliang, Vice President of Beijing Jiaotong University attended the opening ceremony online and brought remarks.

Ambassador Dai noted that China and The Bahamas have a solid record working on infrastructure projects. The Thomas Robinson Stadium, airport Gateway, and the Baha Mar have helped to improve your urban infrastructure and the skyline in Nassau. The Pointe project has gone a long way to boosting the Bay Street area for your city. Furthermore, the two sides have had a lot of sharing of experience in urban planning and construction in recent years, with mutual visits, seminars and briefings.

Ambassador Dai stressed that China places enormous importance on working with the new Bahamas government to take our cooperation forward. Infrastructure will be a major area with great potential. She looks forward to meeting with Minister Sears and his colleagues to understand their priorities and see how to best work with them.

The Seminar is being held from Nov. 10 to Nov. 23, 2021, and more than 20 Bahamian officials from the Ministry of Works and Utilities of The Bahamas will participant therein.
