Ambassador Dai attends hand-over of disaster relief equipment

Ambassador Dai Qingli and the Hon. Myles Laroda, Minister of State in the Office of The Prime Minister, attended a ceremony on December 13th at the Office of The Prime Minister for the hand-over of emergency assistance equipment from the Chinese Embassy to NEMA. Also in attendance were Permanent Secretary Carl Smith from the Ministry of Disaster Preparedness, Management and Reconstruction, and Director of NEMA Mr Steve Russell.

The hand-over equipment, including first aid kits, safety vests, helmets, ponchos, and headlights, will be used for the training of disaster relief teams across the family islands.

Both sides agreed to enhance exchanges and cooperation in the field of disaster prevention and mitigation.
