Chinese Embassy in The Bahamas hosts hand-over ceremony for greenhouses
2021-10-14 21:50

On Oct 14th, ambassador Dai Qingli and the Hon. Clay G. Sweeting, Minister of Agriculture, Marine Resources and Family Island Affairs, attended a ceremony at the Chinese Embassy in The Bahamas for the hand-over of greenhouses shipped from China to the Ministry.

Ambassador Dai said, the raging pandemic has further highlighted the importance of the agricultural sector and the imperative of reducing the cost-of-living for the average Bahamian. The Bahamas has good conditions for developing agriculture.

Ambassador Dai said she very much supports the minister’s objective of making agriculture more appealing to Bahamians and attracting more investment into agriculture and fisheries. This sector has a big potential to be commercially viable. As shown by China’s experience working with some Caribbean countries.

The hand-over of greenhouses is only a small beginning to what the Embassy hopes to be a growing agricultural partnership between the two countries.
