On 1 April 2026, Her Excellency Yan Jiarong, Chinese Ambassador to The Bahamas, met with His Excellency Juan Carlos Marcof Sanchez, Newly-appointed Cuban Ambassador to The Bahamas and his wife Imara López Benedico, First Secretary in the Cuban Embassy. The two sides exchanged views on the political and economic situation in The Bahamas and the region, their respective countries' policies toward The Bahamas, and the current situation of Cuba and the international community’s support of Cuba to safeguard  national sovereignty and security as well as the right of Cuban people to survival and development.
