On November 2, 2011, Chinese Ambassador to The Bahamas met with the Bahamian Prime Minister Hubert Ingraham. Ms. Viana Gardiner, Deputy Director of the Bahamas Investments Authority (BIA), Ms. Carol Young, Investment Officer of BIA and Counsellor Zhai Xingfu, First Secretaries Tan Jian and Wang Quanhuo, Attache Yang Guang of the Chinese Embassy were present at the meeting.
Ambassador Hu expressed appreciation of the hospitality the Bahamian government extended to Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi not long ago during his formal visit to The Bahamas, and exchanged views in depth on how to carry out the outcome of Mr. Yang's visit as well as other issues.
Ambassador Hu said the bilateral relationship between China and The Bahamas has gained momentum in recent years. Frequent exchange of high-level mutual visits has made The Bahamas popular in China. In a sense, those visits have played an important role of "live advertisement" in the promotion of The Bahamas' pillar industry: the Bahamian tourism. Ambassador is fully convinced that, with the further development of the bilateral ties, in particular, the construction and completion of the Baha Mar Resort, more and more Chinese tourists will choose The Bahamas as their destination. Prime Minister Ingraham agreed with Mr. Hu. He said the Bahamian government and people welcome Chinese delegations to visit The Bahamas. The Bahamian side will work together with the Chinese Embassy to actively implement Bahamas-China economic and technical cooperation projects, and make further studies on new cooperative fields such as bilateral aviation cooperation.
