2026-06-26 02:09

On 23 June 2026, Her Excellency Yan Jiarong, Chinese Ambassador to The Bahamas, met with Mr. Don Williams, Chairman of the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce and Employers’ Confederation (BCCEC), Dr. Leo V. Rolle, Chief Executive Officer, and accompanying representatives of the Chamber. The two sides held in-depth discussions on Bahamas-China economic and trade exchanges and cooperation.

Mr. Don Williams briefed the Ambassador on his recent visit to Macao to attend the 12th China-Latin America and the Caribbean Infrastructure Cooperation Forum and the 17th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum & Exhibition (IIICF). He noted that the events were highly practical, efficient, and content-rich, providing an effective platform for participants to explore business opportunities and deepen cooperation.

Ambassador Yan stated that since President Xi Jinping announced the launch of five programs at the Fourth Ministerial Meeting of the China-CELAC Forum in May last year, cooperation between China and Latin American and Caribbean countries across various sectors has advanced rapidly and yielded fruitful results. She expressed the hope that the BCCEC would continue to leverage its role as a bridge between the business communities of the two countries, facilitate exchanges and partnerships, promote the implementation of outcomes from the forums, support The Bahamas’ digital, green, and smart development, and contribute to the enhancement of bilateral trade and investment cooperation.
