On 11 August 2026, Her Excellency Yan Jiarong, Chinese Ambassador to The Bahamas, met with the Hon. Dr. Michael Darville, Minister of Health and Wellness, the Hon. Owen Wells, newly appointed Minister of State, and Ms. Brenda Colebrooke, Permanent Secretary. The two sides exchanged views on China-Bahamas bilateral relations and cooperation in the health sector, with particular focus on advancing the construction of the new hospital on New Providence and the China-Bahamas public health seminar.
